Hall of Residence Accademia dei Ponti

English Version - Versione Italiana

PROFILE & MISSION

1984 was the birth year of the Accademia dei Ponti.  Lots of meetings took place privately. Among   other friends, we can remember Tito Arecchi, Bettino Ricasoli, Ginolo Ginori Conti, Giorgio Fozzati, Giancarlo Polenghi, Carlo Carapelli and Antonio Pistolesi. Systematic activities started in May 1985 in an apartment located Via Fossombroni n.11, and in December took place the first academic inauguration, held by Prof. Franco Scaramuzzi (Rector of Florence University).  Another milestone in the history of this college is the 1996 inauguration of the academic year in the “Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio”.  Meetings  with Mons. Javier Ecchevarria, Prelate of Opus Dei took also place with students (Dec1995) and with professionals (May1996).

In 2014 Accademia dei Ponti celebrates its 30th anniversary of activities in Tuscany.  Its main activity  is full individual training, to help many students, families and professionals in a specific formation, aimed and stimulated by an educational context.  Far from any discrimination, students and families can learn to develop a proper sense of responsibility and self-denial.

Youngsters, adults and elders are protagonist of individual growth, and actors in a project that recognizes the social role of the family and the educational challenge. Today, social and economic development, based on individual and relationships  values, cannot ignore the complementarity between person and family, the generational gap and legal rights.

 INDIVIDUAL TRAINING

Since its beginning the Accademia dei Ponti, Tuscan seat of Opus Dei, a Catholic Church Prelature, founded by San Josemaria Escrivà (www.opusdei.org), develops  a serious training that inspires every initiative to a human growth with a Christian  orientation. The “Universal Call to Holiness”, addressed to each person, promotes a real spirit of service, generosity, loyalty and mutual trust.

SUPPORT

For intense volunteer activities, students and families promote directly various events of the Accademia dei Ponti and also through the collaboration of the “ARTES Association”, a non-profit entity applied to the professional sector.  Donations, bequests and contributions to support the economic engagement of each activity denote the keen interest of private companies and public institutions towards these ambitious goals. In 2009 Accademia dei Ponti won the Capit Award for the promotion of culture.
